Shockingly, we managed to not be total a-holes while discussing this hot topic (Get it? Like the store. You know, where the "Goth" mallrats shop. Pretty damn clever, huh? Alright, so maybe it wasn't THAT clever, but you don't have to be such a jerk about it. Man, now we're depressed. No one understands us. If only there was some way to find other people who feel misunderstood like we do, dress in black like we do, wear makeup like we do and obsess over death like we do. Oh well). Bela Lugosi may be dead, but the reverb-drenched, soulless rhythms of the Goth genre refuse to die.

Welcome to the second installment of The DL Show's 'In One Minute' series. This one -- we swear -- doesn't involve Pete Wentz, you whiney emo bitches. Rather, this installment gives the incredibly ambiguous term "indie" the animated treatment. We were going to record the audio on a Tascam four track and write about it in our zine (Kinko's RULZ!), but we thought we'd give this new Internet fad a try. Al Gore's invention of digital tubes may not seem very "indie" upon first glance, but all those bands on Fox's MySpace hoping to get signed to majors totally convinced us. So, without further ado, give 'em indie rock!

For those who think "Young Jeezy" is an immature diving bird from the Galapagos Islands, we regret to inform you that you're mistaken. Mr. Jeezy happens to be one of the many rap acts currently stacking mad cheddar on the charts. Everyone should know about him, right? Maybe you're an indie rock fan instead. You should certainly know who Britt Daniels is, no? To answer these questions and more, we decided to quiz people on the street about the biggest acts blowing up the blogs. What we learned is that it's fun to ask people about stuff they don't know. That way you can make a montage out of it, and the world can giggle at their quizzical expressions.

Tired of people name-dropping rock genres and not having a clue what they're talking about? We sure are, so we put together the first in an ongoing series of edumacational, one-minute videos that'll drop a knowledge bomb on all unsuspecting ignoramuses. The first out of the gate is the much-maligned Emo, a genre that arguably jumped the shark almost a decade ago, yet continues to lurch onward like a zombie. What do Wilford Brimley and Ben Lee have in common? Well, the Brim-ster rocked it hard in the seminal TV series 'Our House,' while Lee recently rocked the song 'Our House' for a DL shoot in Los Angeles' Laurel Canyon. The rock landmark is a neighborhood that artists like Joni Mitchell and Jackson Browne called home during the '60s and '70s. And although Lee won't teach you about the health benefits of Quaker Oats or the horrors of 'The Diabetes,' his description of how this rich tapestry of American music has influenced his work is worth the click.

If you're like us here at The DL, then you need new music to keep yourself sane. But are we better off consulting a real, live music lover, or should we just move past the need for human contact altogether? Getting a job in today's corporate world can be tough -- especially if you're Les Savy Fav's Tim Harrington. The frontman recently stopped by our New York office for a one-on-one with HR. Needless to say that hings didn't quite pan out the way he expected -- which is totally weird since Harrington brought his motivational wig and everything.
